Events Generator Overview

by
BMC Documentation

The BMC 2.1 editor brings a new quick way to generate events in bulk. With the events generator you can create a set of events within a range, for example, say you have a device with 10 presets accessed using MIDI program change and you want to assign a different button to send each program change, you would have to create an event for each program change and then assign them to the buttons, however, with the events generator you can create a set of MIDI Program change messages from 0 to 9 (or whatever range you want) all on the same channel and sent to the same port instantly, then you can assign them to your buttons/leds/displays/etc.

To access the Events Generator open the events Editor and click the "rocket" icon

Once in the events generator screen you'll see a sidebar with all the different event types that you can generate. To create a batch of MIDI Program Change events just click on Program Change on the side bar.

A new screen will appear with the relevant data, the fields in orange are the variable fields for the batch, for PC they will all share the same Channel and Ports, however, these will be created in a range, Set the FROM PROGRAM to the first PC you want to generate and the TO PROGRAM to the last one, if for example you choose 0 for the FROM and 5 for the TO Program, BMC will generate a total of 6 events all on the same channel with the same port, the events will be for PC 0, PC 1, PC 2, PC 3, PC 4 and PC 5.

Once you've selected your range you can click Generate Events and confirm your selection, once the events are created you will be taken to the events editor and you'll see your new events there!

To create batch events you MUST have empty events available, if you don't have enought EMPTY event slots an error will apear, in addition, the events generator requires these EMPTY event slots to be adjacent, so if you want to generate 10 events you must have 10 empty slots available in a row, for example, you'll have to have event 10 to event 20 without any event assigned. The events generator will add these events starting at the firsts Empty Slot that has the required number of empty adjacent slots.

You can also use the events generator to clear events in bulk, just click "Clear Events" on the sidebar and check the events you want to delete, once complete you will be taken to the Events Editor

Some of the event types like Sync: FAS and Sync: DAW will have checkboxes instead, these is because these events don't have any editional data, just check the event type you want and those will be generated

The events generator is just another feature that aims simplifying the use of BMC, I hope it comes in handy!
