EASY CORE

Breakout Board for Teensy 4.0

EASY CORE is a Teensy 4.0 Breakout board specifically designed to interface with other BadassMIDI products while keeping direct access to all pins (excluding bottom pads), you can also pair the EASY CORE with the CORE USB for a complete setup to bring your next Teensy MIDI Controller to life as quickly as possible!

Now, EASY CORE doesn't specifically have to be used with BadassMIDI Modules only, it can also be as a simple breakout board, 2 rails of pins are available on each side, this is great for when you want to make changes to your wiring, think of it as a permanent teensy breadboard!

In addition, VCC and GND rails are available on both sides, perfect for when you need to multiple VCC or GND pins for encoders, buttons and pots.

EASY CORE has direct pin breakouts for:

In addition for those of you using BMC (https://www.roxxxtar.com/bmc), EASY CORE has pins for the 24LC256 EEPROM chip along with it's required 100nF Capacitor and 10k pullups, with this you can greatly expand the editable memory of your BMC Build by just adding the required components. the 24LC256 is hardwared to address 0x50 so it can be used for any project that requires a large EEPROM

While EASY CORE is designed specifically for MIDI use by breaking out the pins for some of the most popular chipsets like multiplexers and displays, EASY CORE can be used for any project where these types of add-ons are needed. A spot for an electrolytic capacitor is also available, this is great for use with WS2812 addressable leds.

A few tips:

  • The MIDI CHIP breakout uses pins 0, 1 which are Serial1 on Teensy
  • The MUXIN-16 and PixelStomp MUX breakouts both share pins 5, 6, 7 so one or the other one can be used, MUXIN-16, OCTOSWITCH and PIXELSTOMP MUX where all designed to share the same pin layout, however the PIXELSTOMP MUX has 2 additional pins, 5V (for WS2812 power) and DO for WS2812 data, all other pins are laidout to match across all 3 products. Pin 8 was chosen for WS2812 data because it's Serial TX 2, this is a Hardware Serial pin, which is needed for use with BMC and works great with the Teensy WS2812Serial Library.
  • The ANAMUX breakout uses all analog pins, even tho only SIG0 and SIG1 must be analog for the multiplexer to work
  • Multiple i2c breakouts are available on-board, the OLED BOX breakout uses the 5V line instead of VCC for power, while the other 2 use VCC, one of them also has a 5V pin to interface with upcoming BadassMIDI products
  • The ILI BOX breakout can interface with any ILI9341 display, however the pinout is specific for the ILI BOX so make sure to match it on your board, a 100ohm resistor is required for the LED line, the LED line is connected to 5V, the VCC pin of the ILI9341 should connect to 5V. If you are using the ILI BOX, pins 14 and 15 are option and only used for the touch capabilities, the ILI BOX PCB shares the MISO/MOSI/SCK lines for SPI between display and touch, however the Chip Select (CS) and Interrupt (INT) pins need to be unique.
  • Breakouts for the VBAT, PGM and ON/OFF pins are also available with a complimentary ground pin for each.
